Everyone else able to survive (despite having no powers) and have an unrealistic Lifetime movie ending where we can suspend our disbelief. But the conclusion for the two abused girls is death/suicide the only option.

Hopper’s speech seeming like a metaphor for breaking the cycle of abuse and then El choosing to die anyway really didn’t sit right with me.

Like they really didn’t see her as an actual character (despite her being the MC and then the face of their franchise) and just a device to develop every other character I genuinely thought his speech was gonna be one of Hope and with El (and Kali) hearing that, they would agree they’d try to survive and get out, but nooooo

Especially with the theming in the last couple seasons of trying to keep fighting despite trauma, and the way Vecna used people’s pasts to hurt them… the epilogue tried for that with other characters, but El was the protagonist. Her survival was necessary for their message.
