There’s talk about the second amendment being taken away from trans people. I have yet to hear a word from republicans freaking about about the government “taking our guns”.

The constitution is not scripture or the bible. Our founding fathers knew that the system they made was imperfect and so they gave us the ability to change our constitution by vote of the people. There’s nothing wrong with disagreeing with the constitution. In fact you could say by disagreeing with the constitution you’re doing exactly as our founding fathers intended.

The Bill of Rights should not be changed. The right to free speech, bear arms, etc, are not given to us by this document or a government. They are a given, simply by nature.

If rights were only ‘given by nature,’ we wouldn’t have needed amendments to end slavery or give women the vote. Our rights have meaning because we define and protect them through law, not because they’re frozen in time. These rights only have meaning because we defend and protect them through the rule of law.
