OP Context: I’m a veteran and I just think it’s funny that “conservatives” get all pissy pants and why there “isnt” a single month dedicated to service members when there are multiple in fact

All I’m saying is I’m much less angry now that I deleted my uncle’s ex wife (he was in the military, they cheated on each other and had kids from both affairs) on facebook who would post stuff like that

Where are you grabbing these random appreciation months from? None of these are actually recognized like pride. Idc tbh just saying your defense is invalid

to be fair, the vast majority of people complaining also were not drafted but elective service-people. i didn’t choose to be queer, i don’t get paid to be queer, and my entire family doesn’t get benefits even after i die bc i’m queer.

So then it sounds like we need to be doing better as a society to celebrate military appreciation month instead of just using it as an argument to tear down pride. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. Both can be celebrated, we just need to do a better job of celebrating veterans and their families.

Well it isn’t actually a month dedicated to it, may is dedicated to a lot of stuff just like all the other months. People throw whatever idea they want on it. I could care less. I say make everyday of pride month a holiday so working class can make some real money

That is correct, but I removed the “waahh waaahh pride month bad” people from my life and I’m happier now

You can say the same thing about June- There are only 12 months in a year, so there are lots of meanings for every month. Like alzheimer’s & brain awareness month is also June (I used to work in memory care as a caregiver). Also, sometimes these things are celebrated differently. Military appreciation is frequently celebrated by supporting charities like the VFW by collecting donations (we did that at Burger King, where I also used to work). If you care so much, I’d suggest donating to the VFW

Pride is “recognized” because the community shows up and shows out. It’s not a federal holiday or anything.

Curious, what months are for veterans or the military?

April (children of service members), May (service members), November (families/spouses). Then obviously Memorial Day and Veterans Day

As a military child, month of the military child is taken very seriously all over the world lmao

I don’t think anyone needs a month. Maybe a day.

You know what, that’s a fair opinion
