So when is society gonna realize that commenting abt how skinny someone is in a negative way (not unhealthy skinny just normal skinny) is skinny shaming and also not okay to do??? Like why are people trying to make me feel bad for something I can’t contro

skinny shaming is definitely bad and not okay but let’s not equate it with fat shaming… it’s like colorism vs racism both are bad but one is much more prevalent and much harsher

We live in a way more fat accepting society than ever before and it’s not even close

you see any fat person online talking about anything and the entire comments section will be about their weight… and i’m not saying the same isn’t true for very skinny people because a lot of time it is but let’s bsfr

everyone wants it but no one does it because guess what… it’s becoming more acceptable 😭 obesity rates have skyrocketed the past decade alone with more videos on social media everywhere promoting it. regarding those comments tho it’s only when it’s bad that it’s brought up. like if you’re a lil chubby no one gives af that’s normal, but when you’re 5’4 and 250 pounds… like cmon bruh.

obesity rates going up doesn’t mean being fat is socially accepted what… it might be hard for you to comprehend but those two have almost nothing to do with each other

nice to see you disregarded the confluence of my argument. in 2000, no US state had an obesity rate over 20%, but in 2020 the national rate went above 40%. so when a significant percentage of the population carries more weight, it shifts what is socially (there’s ur buzzword) considered a “normal” body size in daily life.

yeah okay you wanna get snippy with me. it doesn’t matter what the normal or mean weight of the population is, it has nothing to do with how people like to look. an example of this is how the average male height is 5’8”, but the beauty standard is for men to be over 6’. if it were really desirable to be bigger like you apparently think it is, then supermodels and instagram models and only fans girls/porn stars wouldn’t sit in the range of “extremely skinny” to “slim thick”.

and again, i do agree that people shouldn’t be shaming anyone regardless of weight. i agree that very skinny girls receive a lot of hate. my point was never that that type of behavior is good. my point was that it does not equate to/is not on the same level as fat shaming at least in broader society. diets are an entire industry and basically mandatory for women yet it’s not as common to see programs or trends encouraging women to gain weight.

you got snippy first don’t even play. uhhh do you live under a rock? victoria’s secret, calvin klein, and blue bella lingerie all have plus size models now, but never did in the past. not to mention the countless magazines like vogue promoting it too. there are whole sections of porn dedicated to fat women you moron. ever heard of “BBW?” that’s just ONE category. and i agree fat shaming is a lot more prominent and widespread than skinny shaming, which is good imo.

oh okay cool so you’re coming at this not from the perspective of someone who is in good faith but rather someone who thinks some bodies are better than others. there’s no reasoning w you in that case

so what i’m hearing is i proved you wrong and now you’re upset. yea some bodies are objectively better than others wtf? how old are you like fr. grow tf up. if one person dies of heart failure at 30 and lived their whole life in pain, barely able to walk, and riddled with ailments, while another loves to 100 and is able to travel, enjoy activities etc. because they took care of their body, do you really think one body isn’t better than the other?

It’s definitely true. Why do seat belt extenders need to exist? Or 5XXL clothes? We are not helping these people by inventing things that cater to them, instead jsut giving them an excuse to keep living their extremely unhealthy lifestyle since there is no incentive to lose the weight if you can just get a mobility scooter when you don’t have a real disability
