I also wouldn’t rely on the AI overview. Plus there’s particular state regulations.

Outside of the work environment. They reserve the right to terminate employment for circumstances and conditions WITHIN the work environment, no ifs/ands/ buts. Just take it to private spaces. I would avoid messages or a paper trail. GL.

Employers usually have 4-5 reasons stocked up as to why they could fire you. Most times they keep them stocked until you do something they don’t like, then they pull one out their ass and fire you for it. If you don’t want to keep your job then keep making your boss angry - it’s up to you

I actually was fired bc of this at my uni. I got in a heated argument with someone who is well paid at the school who badmouthed the chefs saying they could do better and I said do you know how much they make with a position and a hour rate. She went to the head of my job, and I was fired two days later. The issue is that the technicality they got off on was that the person that reported me requested I don’t work on any of their events, in which most events for my job were through them.

It’s been an issue at my uni bc the ones that keep everything running are grossly underpaid compared to the higher ups, our president made more than the US president in recent years for no reason and the school doesn’t care to fix it

You can discuss it at work. Not just outside.

This is a federal law. FEDERAL. State regs don’t matter at this point

If you had everything documented and proof you got fired right after that conversation you can build a case

I recorded the firing and them straight up saying that talking about wages isn’t illegal but frowned upon and I would’ve done something but I got busy and it was tail of last November

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. If you’re not working in the work area, trust me they’ll take it badly and find a reason to terminate your employment. It’s not about privileges, it’s only ever been about just making the boss happy. 😔

I’ve been documenting everything and I don’t make them angry. Not a single job I’ve had ever had a policy on the pay discussion because they know it’s illegal for them to prevent discussions on pay
