UGHHHHHHHH Ohio tried to have a natural family day or month or something and it makes me so annoyed. My grandparents raised me because my parents are drug addicts. Wasn’t a “nuclear family” but it was the best option. There are so many types of families including queer parents. This is dumb
Yep nuclear family is VERY “traditional.” However, I’m also gonna go out of my way and point out. It only considers blood children (no adoptions) and doesn’t factor in single parents (before having any discussions about gay parents which I refuse to ignore either) so I stand by calling it toxic.
It's almost like you don't understand what discrimination is... yeah straight men don't face systemic oppression, but that doesn't mean it's okay to generalize them. All forms of sexism are wrong, and how is asking a rhetorical question about self-centeredness "pointing out an obvious fact"?
Consider that sometimes we don't hear about things like this because teachers are so stuck in their ways that they don't even consider talking about alternate family compositions... if someone says "family" and your only thoughts are "mom, dad, brother, sister" why would you go out of your way to say family doesn't include other types? They only really think one kind of family exists.
