I mean if they’re struggling families sure, escape but idk about the drug lords and such. I’m sure other countries have people illegally coming in too. Definitely isn’t just the US lol we’re not the only ones in this world

And I bet you do not care to understand the ramifications of people coming into the country either. And that is why you don’t care they come in

That’s why they regulate who can come in and have a process to give them visas and allow them to get on a wait list for citizenship. Not everyone should be allowed to just run into another country.

Immigrants are generally good especially for our economy

If you want to talk about strictly economically it displaces legal workers in low skill jobs, decreases wages in those jobs, decreases tax revenue, and wreaks havoc on public infrastructure. Non economically it destroys our national security, increases identity and documentation fraud, encourages exploitation and unfair work practices towards illegal immigrants, and completely undermines basic laws that are the foundation of our society

I’m curious about these numbers. Undocumented Immigrants paid almost 100 million in taxes last year and do not get fed funded benefits. They account for a massive portion of our GDP that we will lose. They are less likely to commit violence crimes than US born citizens

But yet you’re still completely overlooking how much revenue would be being collected if they were here legally. Many are paid under the table meaning a large portion goes untaxed entirely. As for the fed benefits, their anchor babies do get the fed benefits that they already are not paying into to the same level that citizens are and obviously the child isn’t paying that cost. Illegal labor also account for less than 3% of our total GDP and even if it was more should we really have a sector of-

-our economy depend on people who literally do not have workers rights and are known to be exploited because of it? Not to mention the crime part, crime by someone who shouldn’t be in the country is always one too many. You frankly do not see the larger picture.

Honestly valid points. The humanitarian side of things regarding this has always been a bigger influence in my views than economic and I don’t blame you for leaning towards the latter. In a perfect world imo we’d put our efforts to stop undocumented immigrants from entering and those who’ve been here for some time we grandfather. Mainly because many have built a life here and I don’t think ripping that away is morally okay.

What do you think about the exemption he just passed for farm workers or those who have been in the US for an extended period of time?

I think it’s good. I think he realized the damage he was doing to American businesses and took a step back. We need the labor force, especially in agriculture.
