If you want to talk about strictly economically it displaces legal workers in low skill jobs, decreases wages in those jobs, decreases tax revenue, and wreaks havoc on public infrastructure. Non economically it destroys our national security, increases identity and documentation fraud, encourages exploitation and unfair work practices towards illegal immigrants, and completely undermines basic laws that are the foundation of our society
But yet you’re still completely overlooking how much revenue would be being collected if they were here legally. Many are paid under the table meaning a large portion goes untaxed entirely. As for the fed benefits, their anchor babies do get the fed benefits that they already are not paying into to the same level that citizens are and obviously the child isn’t paying that cost. Honestly valid points. The humanitarian side of things regarding this has always been a bigger influence in my views than economic and I don’t blame you for leaning towards the latter. In a perfect world imo we’d put our efforts to stop undocumented immigrants from entering and those who’ve been here for some time we grandfather. Mainly because many have built a life here and I don’t think ripping that away is morally okay.
