What if colors look different to everyone and we just have the same name for them? And what if everything sounds different to everyone and we have the same name for the sounds?

This is an actual thing talked about. Like we know people SEE colors but our brains might interpret them completely differently than someone else and since we can’t actually describe colors outside of how we see them, there is no way to actually prove that our brains interpret colors in the same ways as other people.

Just tell everyone to show you what ‘green’ looks like for example, and the odd person out is colorblind 😅 The sound part doesn’t make sense to me but reminds me how animal noises are different in diff languages

But for colors there is no way to know what someone else sees. Two people that aren’t colorblind could see two different colors in their head but they have just been told that it is green.

It’s a fun thought to chew on but ultimately goes nowhere because it can’t be studied or tested in any way. I like it because it makes us question what we’ve all just assumed everyone else is experiencing and seeing is the exact same as us when it could actually be entirely different than what we see.
