Like if they were a coward they would just let someone else kill them in my opinion. I see it as last cry for hope they want to leave this fucked up vapid unsustainable society for something more sustainable and simpler. school shooters do it for a lot of different reasons, and yes, many are mentally ill people & the medical & social systems failed to get them the treatment or environment they needed. that said, school shooters either get life in prison or get the death penalty. theyre avoiding much of the aftermath and consequences of their actions when they shoot themselves.

i’d say it’s the principle of control. their death was on their terms, their own choice. they took power and control from their victims and made the decision for them that their lives were ending in that moment… all for what? if we’re applying the logic that they took away someone’s life and their will, they deserve to have their ability to choose what happens to them taken away as well. hopefully that’s coherent, not sure if i’m explaining that well
