My main takeaway from trump being the president is primaries are important. We can’t keep having lesser of two evil presidential elections, we gotta start rooting that junk out early.

even then, Trump was not the lesser of two evils. the issue is that Trump runs on rhetoric that is deceitful and misleading yet goes unchecked by the average person. Democrats hardly checked or pushed back on him in any meaningful capacity and also completely ran off the rails before they even got on by going with Biden, who they knew was declining and people were already skeptical of.

my parents judge me for having registered with a party instead of being independent but literally this is the only reason. I want to vote in the primaries.

what do you mean baby killing? if you mean continuing to support Israel in a genocide, that is worthy of criticism, yet Trump does the same. If this is the same, tired euphemism for abortion, allowing people to have abortions is actually a good thing and I don't equate a zygote or a fetus to a living, breathing human being with autonomy and agency; regardless, I don't think voting for fascists to “protect the children” is a worthwhile trade-off. (They’re protecting the children my ass)

Okay but the thing about that is, it’s up to the states anyway ! so if you don’t support abortion, vote against it! You don’t be silly bro. You really just need to be more aware of your options to vote outside of the election.

I know you’re not gonna wanna hear this and I don’t mean to be rude, but did you actually look into the policies? Did you actually go and find the unbiased information? multiple sources? Or does your whole family just stay on the Republican wave because of this age-old rep idea that Democrats are bad no matter what and that everything they do is for control/ for elites? Be truly honest. Because trump is doing everything I was terrified the Democrats were doing when I was a Republican.

uh you can vote in the primaries when you’re registered as independent lol. you just pick which primary you want to do that year, and you’re allowed to change it every year if you’re independent

Yeah you have to register as that party but you can change that whenever

To end this debate: some states have closed primaries, meaning only registered republicans can vote in the Republican primaries, only registered democrats can vote in the Democrat primary, etc. Other states have open primaries where you can vote for either without being registered as such

Not saying it’s a debate I’m just saying before we all argue about which is correct y’all both are depending on the state lmao

just looked it up and yea my state has closed primaries. being registered with a party really isn’t negatively impacting my life tho so it’s kinda fine.
