I think that depends on where you live and how early it gets chilly, like I live in the South and September is very much still summertime in my mind because it’s still hot outside

I guess I can see that. September is def hot here (Texas) but like, that's the norm in my head so it becomes a nonfactor.

If I’m still swimming when I go to the beach, it’s summertime to me, when I start going to the beach and staying dry, that’s when it’s no longer summer

I live really close to the coast, and my gf’s family is from a coastal town, and when we stop seeing tourists there and stop getting in the ocean ourselves, that’s the end of summer. In my mind summer is the season for swimming outdoors, and when the ocean gets cold that’s the end of that, because pools and lakes get cold even quicker than the ocean. But yeah I guess if you don’t swim or live by water, you’d have a different metric for it

Like, in summer on a boat I’m in swim trunks, in fall I’m in a windbreaker, and in winter I’m simply not getting on a fucking boat lmao
