When you say “hostage” do you mean against her will? Have you read her will? Did it say not to try and save the baby if she dies pregnant? Because if not, I’m not sure what basis there is to assume that’s the default (even assuming that’d be honored)? I mean I’D never want to be pregnant, but only bc I’m alive. If I died, I wouldnt mind the kid surviving. Or anyone for that matter. Everyone has my permission to survive if I die (or even save each other, long as it doesn’t inconvenience me)

They arent letting her family choose what to do with her body since she is brain dead and on life support they are supposed to have a say in everything but they arent allowing it

Why should they? I mean, like, where did you learn they’re supposed to have a say in everything? There are no competing interests for them to weigh, no medical decisions to make. There’s only one life that can still be saved, and only one way to do it. Even a medical proxy can’t demand actions that are otherwise illegal, like euthanizing/aborting a fetus without mom’s consent. & on what authority would they do it? Are they the kid’s medical proxy? Not as the owners of the cadaver, surely?

she died very suddenly without an opportunity to express what she would've wanted. and it's likely that doctors could've done more to save her but at the cost of the pregnancy. she died barely a month in, so legislation has been and will continue to use her body like an incubator for 8 months. considering that the family will have to take care of her toddler and a freshly newborn on top of that crazy ass hospital bill, it 100% should be up to them to decide

and when that baby is born it will absolutely have birth defects and trauma that the family will have to manage and pay for treatments. the amount of money that will go into everything will be absurd and it's 100% on the family to come up with it. government doesn't give a fuck about life it demands forced births
