CNN brought a pool specialist over, which recorded significant levels of phosphate present than a residual amount would be leftover in the pool. It can be deduced that someone dumped fertilizer in the water, thus making the pool filled with algae so quick compared to if it was just broken. I’m not a Trump fan, but that is the unfortunate part is that something for reflecting and respecting was sabotaged to make someone look bad

The reflecting pool has cameras pointed at it 24/7. If this were true, there would be proof. There is no proof, thus it is not true. Elevated phosphate levels can be caused by a million things. You chose one of those million things at random to form a theory about and built it off of a literal mole hill of evidence.

Also exhibiting very suspicious levels of “Trump can do no wrong” syndrome for someone who is “not a Trump fan.” Normal people who are not fans of Trump don’t go out of their way to perform apologetics for him.

even if that were true, its not that crazy that the media and people are talking about it cause it costed so much of our money and was unnecessary

Well duh because I hate liars just as much as the next guy, especially when it’s disrespectful to the fallen or our history. So the camera part? 9 cameras are now facing it as of today (06/23), because of 6 arrests of people vandalizing the reflecting pool recently. Which kinda goes to show people were already vandalizing it before they were put up. Here is one of them being arrested for vandalizing it as it’s actively trying to be cleaned in broad daylight

See now I kinda have to speak up because if you think the $14-15 million repairs by Trump in 2026 were expensive, Obama tried to repair it in 2012 with $34 million, which wasn’t inflated back then either. Both did not seem to work out, but one side is actively sabotaging the other, and the other is making a big deal out of cleaning a pool. It really is so silly

I mean that is different cause the Obama administration had repairs done that were necessary to preserve the structural integrity of the pool. Trump admin’s “repair” was supposed to be 1.8 million dollars but ended up being 14-15 mill.

The 6 arrests are instances of people touching the water or taking pieces of the peeling paint out of the water as souvenirs. There is no credible evidence of vandalism from any of them. We don’t even have charging documents in any of these cases yet. The only information we have that states “vandalism” as the cause of the arrests is Trump’s social media posts which were then boosted by right-wing media outlets. More evidence that your characterization as “not a Trump fan” is just a lie.

For me, the issue isn’t really the cost. It’s the corrupt way in which a Trump supporter (and *coincidentally* a neighbor to Trump’s property in Mar a Lago) was illegally offered a no-bid contract to do the work rather than choosing a contractor who would actually do the best job. This combined with the fact that agency officials just admitted yesterday that they knew about the algae problems well before the bloom became visible suggests that the simplest answer is the true one.

The simplest answer, of course, is that the administration corruptly hired someone who wasn’t up for the job because they cut corners in the bid process contrary to law. As a result, the job was done poorly and has caused more problems than it has solved—including a darker color causing hotter water leading to more algae growth. And we know that the contractor also removed the filter that Obama put in, leading to even worse algae build-up. No “vandalism” theory necessary.

Ah I had no idea about the neighbor getting the contract. I could definitely see how that would be favoritism over friends rather than the right person for the job, which I think would’ve been better. While yes, the paint is peeling, there is some truth in fertilizer being added as well. No need to attack me rather than the argument itself

I am not a Trump supporter, but I do think it is good to be balanced. You can dislike someone while playing devil’s advocate. And the “vandalism” wasn’t taking pieces out, some were peeling it off. I am ready for the term to be up so that politics may go back to being normal and civil. It should always be about America and it’s citizens, and since 2016 we as a nation have strayed from that and go in circles

What truth is there to the addition of fertilizer? There is no evidence of this. You can see fertilizer. It would be obvious to the naked eye if any fertilizer were added. My intention is not to attack you but rather to show you how obviously biased your sources of information are. If you really are telling the truth in “not being a fan of Trump”, you are certainly getting your information from a lot of people who are for you to not have encountered some of the basic facts that I am mentioning.

I agree that it is good to be balanced, but “being balanced” doesn’t always mean “landing in the middle of two sides.” When Trump and his supporters lie so frequently and flagrantly while sometimes Democrats tell half-truths or make ill-informed statements, the truth is going to land closer to the Democrats’ telling than on the side of those who are willing to tell any ridiculous lie for the sake of further power and influence for themselves.

Yeah agree. I don’t Trump voters should be vilified as much as they have been but it is really hard to watch this happen. Trump administration blatantly lies and doubles down on lies in a way that no other modern day presidential administration has before. It is scary and even scarier that it seems to be being normalized

In the first term, I understand voting for him because he promised a better economy and better lives for Americans. And maybe being tricked the second time. But to still be standing here and saying you support him and would want him to run again, or saying you do not regret your past choices is what we vilify because he has proven himself to be evil and an all around horrible person that is using presidency to do whatever he wants rather than for the good of the nation

i totally get it and fully relate to where you are coming from. at the same time, i have a few friends and family who support them & it just seems like they’re being genuinely fooled by the media and by the people & its reinforced by the people they are surrounded by, like family and coworkers. These friends are genuinely good and non-bigoted people too.

Oh god please help them. It’s such a horrible agenda they’re supporting. I guess I’m so used to them being horrible because my father is racist, homophobic and sexist and is an avid MAGA Trump supporter

That makes a ton of sense. It definitely seems that there are a lot of people like your dad who are MAGA. I totally get people feeling done with people like that. But yeah, literally god help them. It’s so scary seeing the people who are more centrist/apolitical who are falling for these narratives that normalize what Trump is doing and convince people that liberals are just freaking out for no reason
