That’s not accurate or the full story. It’s a medical condition that CAN occur. Not the standard experienced by every horse. It’s called Exercise-Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH).

It can be more common in race horses due to the extreme strain however the racing industry has far worse issues than just this.
