ok but like,, what about all the burmese pythons that get killed in florida when they’re literally endagered in myanmar? couldn’t we ship them over? not op btw

That could work but it costs a ton to do. It would be far more efficient to kill them and then start reintroducing then to their natural habitat

this comment, innocent in intent, highlights a larger underlying issue with invasive and endangered species. we have the abilities and resources realistically to work towards restoring most species, restoring original habitats and returning invasive species, but it’s not profitable so instead we opt to kill living beings/allow mass extinctions that were easily preventable. additionally, the issues were often caused by humans in the first place, so it feels like we’d be obligated to fix it
