It’s really sad that AI models listen and provide better feedback on my ptsd and schizophrenia and cannabis questions than anyone else in my life. Just the fact the ai started off by saying “I’m sorry that happened to you”…

First they isolate us from each other and degrade our collective social skills, then they provide the “solution” which they control

How did they isolate us?

instead of just talking and having real conversations, ppl immediately go to ai for convenience rather than the authenticity of a real person

So first thing that comes to mind is the rising cost of living. Most things cost money to do these days, and so does driving or public transport. Everything is getting more expensive (food, housing, medicine), so people don’t have as much to spend on fun social activities and people don’t want to go out as much

Second thing that comes to mind is our infrastructure. Car-dependent infrastructure is unfriendly and sprawled out, making it hard to have spontaneous outings like one would be able to do in walkable cities. It becomes a hassle to go out and do things because you have to sit in traffic and maybe even make multiple stops far away from each other. You have to plan everything out and it takes more effort, and that reduces the amount of people who want to go out and do things

Bernie talked about infrastructure in 2016 and I was so pissed when they nominated Hillary

That blackpilled a lot of people for sure. The DNC really fucked him over…

Another thing is everyone’s so damn tired because we’re all having to work harder to keep up with the rising cost of living. Fewer people have time or energy to hang out with each other

And back to the infrastructure thing, we don’t have enough third spaces where people from the community can just hang out and mingle with each other

Yeah the infrastructure isn’t going to happen. That requires good engineers and there’s not a single engineer in our government. Until my profession is represented in government I’m sitting it out

The way our zoning laws are set up creates miles and miles of sprawling housing with nothing for the community to do or go to

Yeah they don’t like to listen to actual experts. Especially now

I’m so damn tired bro. I knew infrastructure was our problem ten years ago . I lived in Hoboken and commuted for school so I know how amazing walkable cities and public transport is

But lowkey I think it’s intentional, not bad design. The idea of the nuclear family from the 50s was designed to isolate us into smaller units, as opposed to multi-generational housing, which is much more natural for us as social creatures (as much as the family drama may be annoying lol)

The more isolated we are from each other, the more we have to buy. You have to buy your own lawnmower instead of borrowing someone else’s, etc

I’m actually really hopeful for Zohran Mamdani’s policies if he can pull them off. Free childcare and free buses will directly help with the loneliness crisis. Parents will be freed from childcare burdens which will allow them to interact with the world again (I also believe parenthood is meant for a village, not two isolated adults), children will be able to learn social skills from other kids (daycare really helps with development), and more people will go out because they can travel for free

An if he can successfully get rents down, people can have more free time to socialize instead of working to the bone just to afford a place to live

Somehow I missed your other comment but yeah I’m tired too bro. All I know is that we have to put up a fight to get the changes we want because powerful people are pushing against us 😞

I think there is more momentum now than ever for walkable cities and public transport. There are a lot of YouTube channels like Not Just Bikes and Cities by Diana, and there are local groups all over the country organizing to improve their local policies

Btw if you’re looking for resources on ptsd I’ve heard that The Body Keeps The Score is a good book for understanding what’s going on. Although I’ve heard it can be retraumatizing for some; I’ve heard What My Bones Know may be a better book to avoid retraumatization

Also, as annoying as it can be at times, Reddit can be a helpful resource for things like that because people share their experiences

The idea of posting about that 16 year old trauma of mine on Reddit of all places seems hilarious. I do like to write obviously but I think it’s better to stick with professionals for now. The trauma made me intimately understand what it’s like to be dead and I recently found I can place blame on my otherwise great mother for having the trauma soooooooooo I need to work on that

Oh yeah definitely don’t post there if you don’t want to. What I meant was looking up very specific problems. I just google whatever I’m experiencing and add “Reddit” at the end, and usually there is someone who can shed light on what I’m going through if I look hard enough
