I can imagine not wanting to release a bunch of files that connect me with someone who did a bunch of evil things. Even if I demonstrably did nothing wrong people would still use it to claim I did. There’s legit no upside in releasing the files because even if they don’t prove he did something, by definition they can’t prove he didn’t and people will just use anything in them to attack anyone even mentioned in passing.

And if they did have solid proof Trump did something heinous I think the Biden administration or Harris campaign would have leaked it or released it as an October surprise. They know what’s in those files, why didn’t they use them? And before someone says “they’re in them too!” They would have just leaked the parts that hurt Trump, leaks are not governed by fair disclosure laws, leaking part of a document is not less illegal than leaking the whole thing.
