Correct. Building on this. When you see hesitation/maybe/silence: *communicate* Ask: “do you feel comfortable with this?” “What do you want right now?” “A different time?” Hesitation isn’t an E-stop, it’s a sign that more communication is necessary.I just wanted to clarify. I have a lot of experience with this as someone in the *ACTUAL* kink community. So much of healthy Kink is learning how to do things that are new, intense, or vulnerable often with power imbalance, while respecting someone’s boundaries and consent. We juggle the question of “yeah, but what does “No” reeeeeeallly mean? [Vsauce music]” in ways that seem wild to those outside of our culture.
The best advice I can give is communicate: Honestly, truthfully, frequently, loudly communicate. “No” is a stop, everything else up to a “yes” is sign that you need to talk more to figure out if it’s a yes or a no. And if it’s not a “yes” be gentle, be slow, and COMMUNICATE!!!! Healthy boundaries make healthy relationships!
