You ever noticed that it's socially acceptable to tell poor people how to spend their money? But when we ask the rich to stop hoarding wealth, the response is always "it's their money."

it’s not like they’re telling poor people to hoard their wealth. just trying to make sure they don’t die

I guess it is sustainable expenditure versus unsustainable expenditure, though I get where you are coming from

Poor people are usually spending taxpayer money.

Because poor people have less money, so they need to spend it more wisely. For example 10% of snap benefits are used to buy sugary drinks. Do they need to buy these things? No. And many times people in general are uneducated as to how to spend money, but for most people they don’t need to aggressively budget. Poor people do

Yes, someone who is poor does need to budget - you are right about that. But you are missing the picture here. It’s considered socially acceptable to tell someone you don’t know how to spend their money only if they are of a lower class. We look down on those people

True, but what’s the point in hoarding wealth when you could help so many other people out? We MADE these people

No, they’re not inherently unequal. Only the shitty systems you support make it so there are challenges and the poor are punished. I want everyone to be housed, fed, and to receive healthcare regardless of who they are and what they do. That’s very easy to do by taxing the fucking rich.

Not really no because what happens when another country doesn’t tax the rich as much? The rich will move to that place and so will their taxes, and then who becomes the new rich? The middle class. And then after them the lower class. There is only so much wealth you can redistribute until there is nothing left. Who is investing in companies so they do not fail? Who is investing in startups to ensure they thrive? Without any excess of wealth there is no incentive to invest

You realize that redistribution doesn't get rid of wealth, right? It's not like you are taking wealth OUT of the system to make it equal... you are moving the wealth from the top to the bottom to create a more even distribution... a substantial majority of money in the US is held by 1% of people... if each of them loses 5% of their earnings from 1 year, it means pretty much nothing to them, but that 5% would be more than an entire family makes over a lifetime for anyone else.

How likely is someone to invest in something if they have less money to invest?

What's the point of investing? Just go ahead and describe it

So a company typically has two ways to get money: from the bank or investors giving money to the business in exchange for a percent ownership of the company (this is called a share holder). The bank charges interest, and interest is expensive. Shareholders do not charge interest instead they are entitled to a certain percent of what the company earns because they also own a percentage of the company. Now larger companies require more investment because they have more expenses aka more riches

You know that's literally just making the rich, richer... right? If they invest poorly they lose money(and rich people hate losing money). Instead of paying money to shareholders, redistributing wealth is a lot easier. The government takes a portion of earnings from the rich, then they provide it to the needy. The needy will then spend that money, boosting the economy and redistributing the wealth in a cycle without hoarding. Ideally you reach a point where everyone has all needs filled.

The taxes already obtained by the rich subsist over half the revenue of taxable categories that gets put back into the government. They get taxed, believe it. But also, dont assume every poor person actively wants the same better life that you assume. Also, Universal medical is a shit show. Look at Canada and the EU wait times to see a doctor because the system there is subsumed with ppl on free shit. No wonder they prescribe euthanasia.

my uncle lived in Canada and got brain cancer right before Covid, they were starting to treat him right before everything shut down. they determined continuing to treat him would be too costly and basically have some sort of metric for the limits of your universal healthcare. none of our family could fly to say goodbye bc of Covid. he left behind a 10 year old and a wife sure being treated here would’ve been unimaginably expensive, but he would’ve at least had a shot of watching his kid grow

and the rich ones aren’t paying as much despite having more than literally everyone. that also doesn’t help society. you don’t have a point or empathy.

The reality here though? Six months to a year to see a doctor who you see for ten minutes. Cost for a visit to an ER? 300K. You’re right, you may have a fighting chance, but you’ll go into debt and be on the streets trying to get out of it. Even with great health insurance, it doesn’t cover everything and you’re still shelling out thousands of dollars which can put many in debt. There is no perfect system, but somethings shouldn’t cost thousands of dollars.
