because even though that’s the truth that’s not how society treats you and it can become distressing when you’re constantly treated in a way that invalidates your identity. maybe one day society will be able to respect people’s gender identity no matter what they look like but we’re not there yet
Also my understanding is that gender dysphoria isn’t immediately treated by transitioning. It is its own diagnosis independent of being trans and in some cases is probably treated with psychotherapy to figure out why someone is feeling it. If all else fails and it becomes clear that someone will not feel better until they transition, then that’s when it becomes an option
I didn’t really say it wasn’t, but I guess I don’t think of it as a choice to be a cisgender man, or a transgender man for that matter either, wear what you want, I’m saying that to me it’s seems like there’s a conscious effort to dress to match the gender you identify with by trans people because usually there is a switch in dress when they begin to identify with a gender other than what they were AAB
