General on Yik Yak | A lot of cartoons now look weird imo bc they’re too high def, but not enough detail to warrant it. So it just looks hollow/flat. Breaks the immersion. Looked much better 10-15 yrs ago in part bc the resolution was commensurate the level of the detail.

high res isn’t inherently bad, but you gotta scale up the level of detail to match or else it just looks uncanny imo.

Same with film. Rocky horror picture show comes to mind. This isn’t a dig at the newer producers, but when the camera quality is much higher, the bar to “convince” the viewer’s eyes is much higher. You’re taken out of the illusion. The same set has to be much more realistic to achieve the same effect.
