There's something chilling about watching history echo itself in real time. Seeing people you once trusted - people you thought knew better - excuse cruelty, look away from injustice, or even cheer it on.
And that's the part that keeps me up at night — not that evil exists, but that so many ordinary people are fine living beside it.

It makes you realize that if this were another time, another place, they might not be the ones hiding Anne Frank. They'd be the ones defending the system that hunted her.
