In this scenario the primary focus should be fixing the root cause rather than taking away the punishment. Which democrats do, which I agree with. I’m democratic for economic aid and helping the impoverished, and conservative for punishments. It’s like the free will argument. I don’t believe in free will bc it’s just biology+environment=predetermined output. However, just murderers were predestined to kill doesn’t mean they should roam the streets. This is just critical thought.

Rates are higher in democrat lead counties overall. This is beside the point though. People are not primarily upset about individuals stealing food out of necessity. They are upset with organized smash and grab style looting and retail theft that isn’t feeding anyone.
