they have one AND two dollar coins in canada, plus their bills are prettier

I feel like one dollar coins are a recession indicator. The higher value your coins are, the less value a currency seems to have. I love loonies and toonies and the coins in Europe but I’d be really concerned if they became popular in our economy.

They’ve been around since like 1796. Granted, they were large silver coins. We also had $2.50, 5, 10, and later $20 coins until 1933. But they were made of actual gold instead of the brass dollars we have today.
