People who look at the South as backwards from the North is so funny to me, who makes your calculators? Where are the top technical schools located? Where does NASA have most of there facilities? Where is the CDC headquartered at? These people hate Southerners for non existent issues, “Oh racism, anti abortion” to all my Northerners please go to Northern New York, Northern Maine, tell me how many confederate flags you see lol

Norther states are far richer, and have far better education systems, leading to the idea that southerners are poor ignorant hicks. Not true, and not fair. At the same time, the South tends to vote red out of loyalty to the party or true belief, which has disastrous effects for the environment and minorities. This in turn feeds back into the idea they they’re all ignorant, and stokes the north/south rivalry. As for the racism, there’s a large population of black and brown people in the souther

Southern states, and as much as we like to pretend democrats can’t be racist, they very much can be. They receive less funding, education, and support. Grouping all southern states together as lesser because of classism, racism, and a very understandable grudge due to voting hurts minorities of all kinds in the south as well as north. In other words, prejudice against the South is true ignorance. Hate those who deserve it, but don’t deceive yourself with some vague idea that where someone is

i knew all this which is why i said what i said. historically our politicians intentionally kept us poor and uneducated so they could prevent us (mainly laborers) from asking abt higher wages and better regulations. the gov will do anything to keep us divided and to keep stuffing money in their pockets.

hating the gov and the ppl who did vote for it is valid, not grouping everyone in the south and then hating them for something that SOME of them did 😭

Bro you realize you’re hating the people who NEED ABORTION too? You’re hating the victim as much as the ones at fault. Can we not just judge people by their own merit rather than where they live?

If you’re actually from the south you should realize how many of us defacto can’t vote because of voter suppression and gerrymandering. You can’t hate a whole population because of legislation passed undemocratically.

as a queer person in the south there's so many welcoming and vibrant queer towns here! we just have terrible gerrymandering and our voices get suppressed
