She needs to be spayed, heats can be painful for cats

I mean heat is painful for all animals and that’s not really the reason why they should spay their cat, but yes. Please spay your cat as soon as their heat is over (I’m giving op the benefit of the doubt of this is their cat’s first heat and they’re following recent vet recommendations until waiting after at least the first cycle to spay the animal)

Yes she’s young I got her back in early December as a rescue I just don’t exactly know how long it’s supposed to last so I’m not yet making an appointment

It’s hard in spring bc it’s cat’s breeding system, but they usually actively bleed for a week and it’s best to wait 1-2 weeks after active bleeding stops in order to spay them. But just call your vet and let them know so they can give you their best advice :)

Ofc! My best advice is towels/wash cloths over your cat’s favorite lounging spots to deal with any spotting on furniture and whatnot, and a comfy spot in a warm sunny window may help their comfort, but otherwise animals are pretty good at cleaning up after themselves so let her naturally handle it as much as safely possible
