Only because yik yak is an echo chamber that is extremely left leaning and the only people that post this shit are often the ones who are constantly trying to equate the other side of the issue to nazis, as that is what is implied by the post.

He has not only gone against the supreme counts ruling on this matter, deported actual citizens (idk if it was by mistake or not), and got rid of birth right citizenship. These are all against the law. This isn’t about the law. It’s bigger than that. I’m happy to have a dialogue about why I believe this is as serious as some make it seem if you’re curious

For the record, I didn’t vote. I’m a centralist and won’t cast a vote for someone I don’t want in the office.

it’s not about immigration laws being enforced. it’s about a lack of due process and human rights violations in these prisons. so 1) illegally detaining people (citizens included) 2) all people including violent criminals deserve basic human rights and these prisons are not sanitary or safe at bare minimum.

He did not get rid of birthright citizenship it’s the same as it has been since 1898. If you are in the US legally and have a child the child is a citizen. What Supreme Court ruling are you talking about? I cannot find anything about citizens being deported under Trump however I’m sure you’re aware citizens have been accidentally deported all the way back to the Clinton administration.

I assume you’re talking about El Salvador? Are you complaining about sending gang member and traffickers to a prison built for gang members and traffickers? I’m not sure about sanitary but they are unquestionably safe lol. How are they illegally detaining people? Do you know the basic rules for law enforcement, BPA, or ICE to be allowed to detain someone?

so what do u have to say about law abiding tourists being detained? legal permanent residents being deported to foreign prisons famous for torture? us CITIZENS being deported?

Which tourists? The British one was detained for incorrect visa. Which citizens are being deported to prison(s) famous for torture? The only case of citizens being deported I’ve found has been minors being deported with their parents which i honestly think is a better move then leaving the kids to fend for themselves. Obviously accidental deportations of citizens happen as well as they have for most every admin for the past 40 years

uk visitors don’t need a visa. they just fill out ESTA which she did. two german visitors were denied entry and reportedly detained, st least one for over a week. again, germans don’t even need a visa. an australian woman was detained for having too many clothes in her bag and sent to a prison where she was strip searched and had a body cavity search conducted on her. all while trying to visit her husband who is in the us military

Having a visa waiver does not guarantee entry into the US, and denial of entry for these visa waivers is not unique to the Trump admin. You just feel that it is because it’s being blasted all over the news. The Germans were detained due to suspicion of working illegally as they did online freelance work and CBP denied them due to false pretenses. The AUS was detained for her luggage contents, travel history, and deleted text messages. All these actions performed by BPD are completely legal-

-and are almost entirely dependent on individual discretion, not trump admin policies. Like I said things like this happen with ever admin all the way back to bush SR. Im still confused where the prisons famous for torture come in for these people though?

that is an additional issue. the trump administration has struck a deal with el salvador to transfer detainees to prison there. the el salvador prison system is notorious for its human rights abuses and violence. at least 50 of them were later found to have entered legally. the trump administration actively encourages the denial of due process by invoking war time exceptions. but to your point about these issues occurring in other administrations i agree! the problem is bigger than trump.

trump just encourages the agencies who have, as u say, a long standing history of these issues. he also makes such abuses more visible, as the media is more likely to pick up stories that they can attach his name to. obviously that doesn’t mean that they haven’t been happening, but ice is now aware that it doesn’t matter if people notice their violence. this administration will protect them from consequences

I do not think additional scrutiny is a problem especially after the past four years. Do you have a source for 50 of them being here illegally? But the thing is these stories have been picked up before and publicized, Obama used nearly the exact same procedures for his deportations and everyone loved him. Clinton the same. You only care about it because you are being told to but do not care to look back and examine if what you are being told is true. These agencies were ’encouraged’ just as much
