I’m babysitting first grade twins after school every day, and they are SO GLUED TO THE IPADS. I can’t get them to do anything else. Let’s go on a walk, no, let’s play a game, no. Bruhhhh

Start to give limits. Tell them that they can go on their iPads but first they should go on a walk. Or you could even get a game that would allow them to move or dance! I work in elementary so yeah it’s heartbreaking they’re so addicted to screens. If you give limits, set up a timer on both of their iPads or on your phone but let them hit the start button so it gives them some control and it’s still a screen lol

I’m their babysitter not their parent, I can’t take something away that their parent has allowed them to use

There are tons of videos on YouTube for dance breaks. Idk if it’s free but that Heads Up game where it’s like headbands and charades is good. If you wanna go outside, maybe create like a scavenger hunt that they have to take pictures with their iPads. I think if you try going with what they like but still setting limits would be good! Expose them a bit to stuff they’re missing out on. Might help the parents too

I only have them for 1.5 hours after school and the last time I suggested a walk and gave them an I pad time limit, I was met with a full blown rolling on the floor screaming crying throwing meltdown. I could try again but it feels pretty hopeless since I can’t parent them or implement significant consequences ahhh

Fuck that’s frustrating. Hurray for horrible parenting 👏. Could still try asking them what they normally like doing, you thought of going for walks or whatnot

Fr lol, my children will never get I pads, I’ll keep trying, I’ve brought over cookies to bake, chalk, various games, suggested walking to the lake, etc. but their attention spans are shot. Not giving up! They have no idea how fun I am 😂
