i’ve never been the sole caretaker of an animal but i did grow up w them, i’m just not sure if they’re more work than i expect.

If you can afford buying cat food, litter, litter box, and the adoption fee for a cat I’d say go ahead, you may have to scoop litter once a day or every other day though but cats aren’t mostly independent

Maybe you could try fostering a cat first to see if you can handle the responsibility, especially when in depressive episodes. I have depression and pet sitting for periods of time has also helped me realize that I could totally do it
