If I ever have kids the thought of sending them to school genuinely terrifies me, kids and teenagers are the worst, what if they get bullied :(

Bullying building character. Teach kids to be them selves even with ridicule, that’s life. I want my kid someday to be like why should I care what others think I am me that’s it. Hard to do that with out an opposition to stand against.

yeah but i’d want my kid to make friends, learn to socialize and get a better education from real teachers, and have extracurriculars like sports and clubs as an option if they wanna do that

For the part of making friends, you can always take them to like a mall or something to start making friends and socializing. As for sports, there are plenty of options you can find for kids that is out of school.

Are u suggesting they take their kid to the mall every day and have them stand around for other kids to run into them ?

No I mean like find people about their age and start talking to them because that’s where you can usually find teens. Of course the parent should be around to make sure they’re safe and no one is harming them or anything

as a kid who was heavily isolated growing up, please do not do that. send your kid to a school you’ve researched and are comfortable with and let them form their own friendships

i’ve seen some states have groups for homeschooled kids so they can still make friends. also you can put them on other sport teams that aren’t associated with the school

I probably wasn’t very clear on the making friends part but of course the parent shouldn’t choose their friends. Let the kid form their friendships. The parent is only there to make sure they’re safe. Nothing else

obviously imma do that, are you aware that doesn’t always work and can make things worse for them, are you fucking ignorant?

again ofc imma teach them to be resilient and fight back in appropriate ways but if you genuinely think that harassment will always stop just cause you fight back, then you’re delusional, the kids who pick on others will simply find other ways to make a bullied kid’s life hell unfortunately

As someone who was bullied in middle school, I can confirm that fighting back doesn’t always work. It just gives the bully more attention and will make them bully you more. Sometimes it’s best to ignore them and they will eventually get bored and stop
