No, it’s you who doesn’t understand. “Supporting Israel” and “supporting all actions of the Israeli government” are very different things. You alienate the vast majority of Jewish people when you demonize “supporting Israel” because for most Jews that means support for your home existing. If you draw the distinction between that and support for the current governments actions, you’ll find most Jewish people a lot more receptive
If you think Jewish identity is purely a religion, you need to educate yourself before you speak on this topic. In terms of groups having homelands they’re indigenous to, it has so much precedent I don’t even know where to begin - Persians in Iran, native Americans in America, Arabs in Saudi Arabia, etc. all enshrined under the UN Charter section about Rights to Self Determination. Israel was founded by secular labor ideologies - you’re misinformed if you think its because it was “promised”
You’re speaking with an understanding of indigeneity that’s so elementary school level, how did you get into Berkeley? Is a displaced Native American whose blood is mixed with Spanish or Canadian colonizers less Native? Do you believe in Blood Quantum? White Supremacists used that to deny Natives their land. The issue is, again, your conflation of action and self determination rights-You need to get off TikTok and actually learn about this conflict that you’ve been made to feel so strongly about
What objective fact have you posed? So far you’ve claimed Israel is evil, Palestinians are the true indigenous community and Jewish indigeneity is fake (though documented through literally thousands of years of archaeological evidence), and that the UN claimed Israel is committing a genocide (on which the Security Council (their legally binding body) has not agreed). It’s not about faux-intellectualism, it’s about you thinking “they all bad me all good objective fact and nuance irrelevant”
Again, you are calling Jews “the colonizers” and the Palestinians “the indigenous”. You’re framing it in a framework that is polarizingly simplified to pass on a “good vs bad” narrative. You’re not talking about the current situation in Gaza, you’re talking about Israel’s legitimacy as a sovereign state - you’re conflating one with the other and using it to push an agenda unrelated to cessation of hostilities with the Palestinians. That’s dishonest, and at the end of the day, if you seek to(1/2)
Again, you cannot comprehend a situation that is more than bad vs. good. Touching back to why you are the one blinded by propaganda. Even in your claim of “Palestinians were there first” there is outright evidence disproving that fact and showing Jews were there since 1200 BCE (1300 years before the word Palestine even showed up for the first time, which by the way was a colonial imposition by the Romans). The funniest thing is seeing you call me indoctrinated - it’s such an Orwellian inversion
Your claims so far invalidating the lie you just said, and pushing to delegitimize Israel as a country as opposed to stop violence: “ashkenazi Jews are not indigenous to Israel” “Israel is by definition a genocidal state” referring to Jews as “the colonizers” “Palestinians are the true Israelis”, etc. you’re dishonest. Say what you mean, don’t hide behind it. Also, victim mentality? Coming from someone whose entire political identity is victimhood, usually after starting wars? Come on now
