No one escalates just for fun. You gotta understand middle eastern culture/modern history to get an accurate picture of what’s going on. Nothing new going on here. Muslim Middle Eastern countries have been doing the same shit for the past 60+ years—Their leaders make a lot of noise and angry speeches getting their people riled up, then Israel preemptive strikes them and they all sit back down again 😂
I’m not against any religion but you clearly don’t have any familiarity with what how Arab Muslim countries behave towards non believers, how this deep rooted hatred influences their politics. Or how minorities in these Muslim countries are treated. Why don’t you protest for them?
Dumb argument. Most Muslim countries are wholly reliant on Western support in some form (defense, tech, free handouts). Saudi has a 50 billion USD military budget and buys fancy military tech from the U.S. Most are incapable of running their country without Western support.
I think saying 'Middle Eastern countries have always been like this' is a bit of a generalization. Many people in the region including in Israel and Iran want peace. Governments are not the same as their citizens, and cycles of violence tend to repeat not because of culture, but because of power, trauma, and geopolitics. I just don't think escalation makes anyone safer in the long run.
I think it's fair to say that any country has a right to defend itself, including both Israel and Iran. But justifying every attack by saying “they started it” doesn't help. There has been geopolitical conflict in the region for years. Both sides have provoked each other over the years, and escalation just keeps hurting civilians. I don't think picking a side based on who's 'allowed' to be violent really leads to peace.
I hear you and I get that people want the conflict to end decisively, but I don't think this will bring real resolution. Historically, escalation just perpetuates the cycle of violence especially for civilians. If holding back didn't bring peace, going all in probably won't either. I just think the best way to handle things would be to address the root causes in order to prevent the cycle of violence from continuing
From what I understand, the conflict started because the Iranian government opposed Israel’s occupation of Palestine and has supported armed resistance efforts against Israel. It has continued because Iran has refused to recognize Israel as a state because they don’t want to normalize Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine. I get both sides—Israel is scared because they are surrounded by groups that are hostile toward them and Iran opposes Israel’s unchecked military aggression in the region.
The aggression has historically only gone unchecked when Hamas does a surprise attack. Hamas is egos weaker than Israel, so it’s kind of a joke, and Israel easily retaliates. The entire Arab world used to be against Israel, and now it’s just Hamas and Iran. Israel is so close to peace, and two very weak groups stand in their way. Their military tactics have worked against 90% of the Arab world, and only Hamas and Iran stand in the way now
Its a bad cycle. I just don’t see how peace could ever be reached if the Israeli government/military is treating Palestinian civilians the way that they are. They should treat them fairly and see them as the innocent people they are. I don’t think there is a good excuse for Israel to target civilian infrastructure the way they do. Iran will never be open to negotiating peace as long as Israel is doing what is being done to civilians in Gaza.
100% true, however both sides are hitting civilians. It just seems to me like Israel is trying to end any sort of motivation from Iran to back funds to Hamas. They’re designated as terrorists bc they’re the ones that provoke currently. It sucks, the Middle East sucks, and Israel is clearly fed up. I see why they are doing what they’re doing
Most countries that were colonized by Western countries had their institutions purposely undermined by Western colonial powers. Colonizers came in and destabilized their self-sufficient economies by pulling them into the global capitalist market. They literally manufactured dependency so that they could exploit their land and resources. Lets not bring colonization back
I just don’t think Iran will ever stop backing anti-Israel groups unless Israel stops doing things unfairly, especially with regards to their occupation of Palestine. Israel has an opportunity to cultivate peace. I really think that this will just make things much worse. its like pouring fuel on the fire because it will just create more resentment and animosity
No, they keep taking more and more land from Palestinians. 92% of buildings in Gaza are destroyed. They dont let aid in when people are starving, the israeli military goes around shooting families in the heads. They have killed red cross workers and hundreds of journalists. That is wrong.
