Another school shooting and people are still saying 'thoughts and prayers' that won't bring those children back the US is the ONLY country that has this problem the only way to fix gun violence is to make stricter gun laws!!!

I don’t think so, the guns are already here there’s no getting rid of them. Almost all school shootings are being committed by people who are not legally allowed to posses them and school shooters/criminals in general do not care about the law. What stricter laws do u think should be implemented?

Criminals don’t “need guns” yet they still have them, just look at the news in any hood in America. Thinking the government could ever possible get all the guns off the street is unrealistic they’ve been trying for years and haven’t put a dent in it. What people are the ones u would consider need guns? Even the states that already do what u suggested, such as California, and have the strictest gun laws in the nation, still have school shootings. And no legally aquired gun can shoot anywhere near

They’re praying for their families to find peace and hopefully some comfort in the fact that their loved ones are in heaven no one with two brain cells to rub together thinks they’re praying for them to come back to life

Even if they made guns completely illegal it’s too late they are already here available to buy through both legal and illegal means. Also the US isn’t the only country with this going on

If the government would actually do something this could be stopped and guns could be taken from people who don’t need them. I don’t believe in all weapons being taken away but there is no reason anyone should be able to own an assault weapon that is meant for military purposes.

The US is the only country with it happening to this extent and not doing anything about it the US has the highest gun mortality rate in the world and you can’t tell me that it’s not because of our gun laws or lack of

I think it should be much harder to purchase a gun you should have background checks(which I know are already done but it is very easy to get around this if you are purchasing from a collector or at a gun show)and it should be kept locked up at all times so many children die because their parents are careless and leave weapons sitting around wether it be a curios kid playing with it or a kid shooting up a school there’s no reason guns should be so easily accessible and left around so carelessly

Take Japan for example they have the lowest gun mortality rate you have to go through mental health checks classes, interviews, and training to be able to own a gun. I don’t think America should be exactly like this but it’s a good starting point instead of just being able to go to any gun shop show your id and a clear criminal history (which most school shooters have) and be able to purchase an assault weapon that can shoot 600 rounds a minute

600 rounds a minute all legally acquired guns are semi automatic and u ofc still have to reload, unless u get an ffl which is extremely strict then u can get a fully automatic gun legally. Switches are illegal af and all over the streets, if u don’t know what that is it turns a semi automatic gun into full auto

What u say about the parents leaving them out is absolutely true, but doesn’t have anything to do with gun laws that’s just called being a fucking idiot. I think gun owners should be forced to take a gun safety class which is only required in some states to legally obtain one

And for your last point most of these school shooters are not legally allowed to have these guns, they are usually getting them from their idiot parents. I agree some things def should change but given how easy it is to get a gun illegally, and that they are already all over the streets, I don’t really see stricter laws doing anything to stop gun violence in the country

And it still accomplishes nothing.

And what exactly are you accomplishing other than using the death of these poor people as a means to push your political beliefs and prayer can accomplish a lot it’s not a magic trick and no one other than people like you who clearly know nothing about it thinks that

Ah, yes, because reminding you that prayer accomplishes nothing is somehow political. Good job 👏

Are you really that dense?? Did you not bring up gun laws which is a political matter..

Also at least people praying for them have good intentions and are praying that the lord helps them through an obviously difficult situation while you complain on yikyak I’m sure If you could ask the people who are affected what they appreciate more it would more than likely be the sympathy of the people praying for them…

No, I didn’t bring that up. It’s not really political, it’s basic decency and common sense. Having been through horrific gun violence and losing family, “thoughts and prayers” are a fucking insult.

It’s unfortunate you see it that way I’ll pray for you that you come to know Jesus and are able to repent for this very sad and ignorant way of looking at prayer and that you maybe find a way to grasp your head around the fact that people that do these types of things clearly don’t care about laws…

Ah, prayer. It means nothing and does even less. Especially when directed toward fictional characters. 🥱

They have been saying thoughts and prayers for years while children continue to die and they still do nothing that’s why people see it as an insult when children are dying and you have the power to stop it but all you offer it’s thoughts and prayers it’s nothing against god it’s just insulting to tell a parent who’s just lost their child that you’re not gonna do anything to stop the violence that they lost their child to
