Probably some Greek play with this plot somewhere, they loved fate stuff

Getting to know the person that will ultimately kill him, the person he meets is a regular person and overtime they become friends as he ultimately tries to figure out what leads to him killing him. The ending results in him still getting killed, but having been prepared and ultimately having accepted his own death.
