I really don’t like when ppl say “they’re sabotaging the character” or other things of that nature about a show bc majority of the time that character isn’t supposed to be good. They’re supposed to be mean, rude, horrible, etc. it’s not character sabotage

Sometimes it is character sabotage though, especially if that character has been showing signs of a redemption arc for the whole series, and then the writers are like “nah redemption arcs are too hard so they’re just gonna go back on every redemptive action they’ve taken for the last multiple seasons” And yes, I am 100% talking about Jaime Lannister, I will never forgive those motherfuckers for what they did in that 8th season.

Don’t know who that is but that’s why I said majority and not all because yeah there’s some but majority of the time ppl claim it’s “character sabotage” it’s just a character not being written the way they want/not getting a good ending or redemption when that was never the plan

Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire is a man who starts out the series immediately painted as an awful dude. He’s engaged in an incestuous relationship with his twin sister (his sister is basically the main villain of the show), he also assassinated the previous king despite being sworn to protect that king. The king he killed was mad, and everyone knows it, but they view him as an oathbreaker, a villain, so he starts out like “if they want me to be a villain, I will be”

He’s from an evil family, he does evil things for his evil family, and the one time he did something unequivocally good, it made the entire realm hate him. But he also hates himself for what his family makes him do, and every time he’s away from his evil family, he’s a lot better of a guy. In both the books and the show. But then the show writers ran out of books and were like “yeah idk have Jaime fully regress in his redemption arc because in the last book we have he’s regressed a little bit”
