i hear this argument all the time but i’ve never actually witnessed an atheist call a religious person a moron. every one i have met are generally very respectful toward people’s religions because we know how it feels to have something pushed on to you that doesn’t feel right

Speaking from experience. Atheists can be quiet… pushy with their beliefs as well. I’ve been called worse than a moron many times and almost always with an attitude so sanctimonious and holier than tho it fits with the behavior of a stereotyped evangelical preacher from a bad Steven king book. Blame Dawkins Harris and crew but there is a whole movement in atheism which sees religion as an obstacle to humanity and is very interested in demolishing it.
