Hot take: we shouldn’t see marriage as the only successful end goal of a relationship. If they’re still together and love each other, maintaining a healthy relationship, and parenting the kids well it has no bearing on their lives if they’re married or not

Hot take, a marriage is a $40+k party plenty of reasons to put off a huge party if you’re prioritizing caring for your kids.

The point of marriage is to find someone you want to be with for eternity and build a family with. If you’re gonna get married at all why wait until after you have more than one kid with that person? And a lot of the time men will have kids with a woman then leave her because she’s not what he’s looking for. It’s sad

Money, if you had a kid wait until you complete the family so both children can be involved in the wedding, tons of reasons. But also men (and women) can leave each other after marriage, divorces happen all the time. But again, why press getting married? You can be together for eternity without the government being involved

Everyone should make the choice that works for them but marriage does have bearings on people’s lives. Its not just a symbol. It gives you legal rights like not having to testify against them, alimony, making medical decisions, survivor benefits, lower taxes, etc.

I’m not saying everyone should get married, I just think it’s strange that so many men want the benefits without the commitment

That is NOT true. People are choosing to spend that much on a luxury wedding. A backyard wedding with homemade food and close friends and family is just as special as elaborate weddings
