i think in part it’s to not erase the palestinian name and maybe also to note that it’s not just happening in gaza, but rather all of palestine

No, the purpose is not to mention another country Palestine because israhell is trying to eliminate it from the map and steal the land.

I’m not aware that either Gaza or Palestine were ever independent countries? But they seem like they’d have an equally valid right to it so idk why you’d think of one as not reflecting a national identity (aspirational or otherwise) if the other does

Gaza is not an independent country, it’s part of the Palestinian territories. the desire of the Palestinian ppl from all across the region is to establish an independent state, despite Israel’s ongoing occupation and genocide. the term “Gazan” was invented by western media to delegitimize the existence of a collective Palestinian identity. not to mention most people in Gaza rn are refugees displaced from other parts of the occupied land.
