Probably because it’s a month without contact. We are so accustomed to having our phones and calling our loved ones within seconds. On top of being surrounded by people you can’t really trust. It’s nice to see the loved ones because they’re like a safety blanket where their minds can shut off just for a moment.
Then again I've had to spend over 26 days away from my family many times in my life so I'm used to it and I guess that's not the case for everyone. Also maybe the Survivor experience is so hard that it makes you get emotional miss your family but idk I'm pretty sure I wouldn't gaf
This!! Plus we have to remember that sometimes they leave friends or family behind without knowing that they’ll be there when they get back. Jenna M quit All-Stars because she felt guilty that she left while her mom was dying, and Adam’s mom passed away an hour after he got home from Survivor. Terry’s son nearly died, and he had to leave the game to see his son. Sometimes hearing how loved ones are doing can provide huge relief when you hear nothing at all for a month
