It seems excessive to me too, but I’m also not a medical expert. I assumed they know a lot more about snake bites than we do. They might be concerned about infections, dehydration, or other things I’m not even thinking of. I don’t quite understand either, but the doctors want the competitors to be able to play. They never want to take them out unless it’s necessary for their long-term health. I trust that they made the right decision for Jake, even if I don’t understand it.

No it fits. There’s no telling what his weakened state, no food or water or fire, could do to his body after this crazy rush of adrenaline. Stress really can be a silent killer.

he had ivs and an open wound to major arteries like that could get infected and kill him really easily.

Well it didn’t matter the doctor didn’t seem to ask him his thoughts which is horrible patient care and completely ignores patient autonomy

Ik but granted he could’ve sat out of the immunity challenge or done very minimal in it and rested for the next few days. Fuck Matthew broke his arm on 42 and kept playing.

There is no “resting” out there. They’re trying to make sure he is monitored in the case they’re wrong. I’m also sure he didn’t want any special treatment. Like sitting out of challenges when his tribe really can’t lose isn’t what he’d want

But we didn’t see that and it’s just assumptions. And everyone is under stress there like at this point it shouldn’t matter. On top of that they could easily do blood tests to verify. And if they don’t have the equipment for that, that’s really poor medical care on their end and shouldn’t ruin his chances

Venom is not that easy to predict. Yes they thought it was a dry bite and they’re like 90% sure but they’re considering the 10% chance they’re wrong. It’s not bad medical care to recommend all possibilities and leaning toward the one that doesn’t lead to death

Idk I question it because it seems like there have been an excessive amount of med evacs in the new era. The only med evac that didn’t happen immediately was Matthew and Daniel who were in much worse shape. Plus they monitored Matthew regularly and eventually pulled him when he was in too bad of shape. Why they couldn’t have just done that with Jake is beyond me honestly. While I am not a medical expert either I am studying to be in a medical profession so I do know my stuff still.

Ok that’s fair but he was asymptomatic which for a bite of that venom yield he would show signs and symptoms. I agree that they should be more cautious but he clearly was fine. They couldve also done a blood and hormone analysis to see 1. If there was any venom shown and 2. What hormone levels increased like adrenaline and cortisol

Which is not instant. Like they don’t wave a magic wand and know all that. It sucks that it seems like it wasn’t a big choice but Jake also strikes me as somebody that will listen to doctors no questions asked. I’m also sure he was thinking of his wife and child and wanted to gtfo

You’re right but it can be done fast enough that he could come back to camp after the challenge and know the outcome. And I totally get that with his circumstances but it didn’t seem like he had any say in the decision
