People getting upset about how much they spent on merch will never not be funny to me because it’s not like someone’s holding a gun to your head to make you buy things. Clearly you value the product enough to buy it and that’s not Taylor’s fault.
Her (tEaM's) marketing strategy is to maximally exploit people's fandom for financial gain. Keyword maximally -- notice the sheer number of variants etc. That does not NEED to happen no matter how many graphs you show me; a tactful, tasteful artist wouldn't do this much.

Okay but I think we can collectively agree, $70+ for a cardigan is absurd… never been able to buy it because it’s outrageously expensive

Like why are you complaining you’re broke after buying everything? Did no one teach you how to manage your money?

Also seeing some people talk about who deserves to have what merch. Like none of you deserve anything? It’s a privilege to buy merch, not a right. LMAO the entitlement of some people

Ok but here’s the thing - if people are so upset about it, DONT BUY THE STUFF. They’re not going to run a deficit. Supply and demand

I don’t buy a lot of merch because I know I wouldn’t ever use it. I bought movie tickets because I know I will enjoy that experience. You can’t get mad me for not spending money on something I don’t value just so you can feel better about what I have. Grow up.

I’m willing to spend $100s on a well made cardigan, but I’ve had people tell me to be grateful it’s “only $70” which is crazy. The cardigans are made of polyester and have been coming in frayed for so many people so I’m scared to buy them

Maybe. But people still buy them so clearly some people still value them at that price

Some may value them, but for probably over half of Taylor swifts fans, $70 could be well spent elsewhere, especially in this economy…

I’m certainly not disagreeing. But if someone wants to spend $70 on a cardigan, who am I to stop them?
