And yet she’s still the highest selling artist globally. Also, the Eras Tour ended 8 months ago and was in the time period of the VMAs nomination deadline. Her buying back her masters had basically the same impact (on a smaller scale, obviously) as if she would’ve released them in May, so💁‍♀️

I love her but I just don’t think she deserves it for this year. She’s been taking a break and hasn’t done anything music related besides buying her masters back (and this might also be controversial, but plenty of people were listening to original versions the entire time anyway). It seems disrespectful to other artists who actually put out stuff this year like Sabrina or Chappell

Sabrina and Chappel aren’t even nominated in this category, so that’s irrelevant. It’s also not relevant that people were streaming the OG versions before she announced she’d bought them back, lmao. My point still stands. Her simply announcing that she bought them back had a larger impact than most of the artists that have released this year. If you don’t want to vote for her, then don’t vote for her.

I’m not being defensive. I was answering your original question. Why comment in the first place when the post was encouraging people to vote for Taylor? If you’re not voting for Taylor, then the post wasn’t for you.

Honestly I’m just confused as to why she was nominated in the first place. No new music, documentaries or tours. Yea she bought her masters back and it was a big deal but not as big as any new music. I don’t think she should be nominated for an award when she’s taking a break from work for a while

If they wanted her to show up I wonder why they didn’t just ask her to present an award or something, she’s gone to VMAs before and she seems to enjoy attending them
