My dislike of this album is not because she's happy/in love. I like Mine, Sparks Fly, Paper Rings, her other happy songs. The writing on this album just is not on par with her other music

like SHE set this bar of high expectations for her lyricism. and when she doesn’t hit the mark like for this album ofc many are gonna be upset like now. its completely fair i think. the bootlicking swifties are gonna eat up anything from her without actually dissecting the problems

Like #1 said, each album is unique and different. And while I disagree with them in the sense that you can compare the albums, but acknowledge the overall theme and tone of the album. I think every song fits the album perfectly as it is, and if you don’t like it that way, that’s fine, but the writing doesn’t need to be like any other album, it needs to be TLOAS.

stop comparing her writing to past albums then, she is multifaceted

So I'm not supposed to think about music in the context of the artist? because taylor tells a story with her music, each album is a chapter, this one just happens to not be as good, and that's fine, not everyone is 100% perfect all the time

saying this album isn’t on par with other songs is just such a stretch

it's... really not a stretch. either that or you think her past albums are much worse than they actually are

I like all her albums for a variety of reasons because each one has their own sound, theme, lyricism and storytelling. So I don’t compare them to each other because they are all on a different part of the spectrum of her art.

why does she need to have intense lyricism in every song/album? She got chewed out with TTPD because it was too hard for people to understand and now TLOAS is very easy to understand she is still being chewed out??? Give me a break, some of you people are NEVER happy

Just bc you don’t like it doesn’t mean others don’t love it. You can have your opinion but no need to be a hater

tbh i was disappointed with TPD bc it wasn’t produced well. the lyrics were fine but everything recently has felt super forced from her
