“This album is mid” “she could do so much better” “it sounds like AI” Okay. You write it then. I’m going to start asking people for their lyrics instead. Step up to the plate!! It’s your turn!!! Tag yourself in let’s see what you got!!!

that’s not the point babe. SHE herself set up her own standard that WE want to listen to. we listen to her for her clever witty lyricism. not whatever this crap we got was. it’s just disappointing. it felt half baked, rushed, and overall sloppy! you can enjoy it all you want. i’m not stopping you from that. but when i want to listen to taylor im wanting something more than basic lyrics that chatgpt can make.

This is such a weird thing to say? I’ve never said I’m gonna put out an album that will have the deep lyrics of one of them and the catchy pop beats from another one?

Also why do you sound personally offended? Are you Taylor? Did you work on this album? Is this the best writing you can do if you tried?

she does not always have to put in profound lyricism!! people shit on TTPD because it was “too hard to understand” and now she put out a simple pop album and people are bitching again. like honestly, what the fuck. where is the middle ground?

WE do not listen to her for her lyricism. I listen to her because I love her music and relate to it and they’re almost all bops. YOU are allowed to have an opinion BUT she is not required to put forth that lyricism every time she puts out an album. AND she did put out some super great lyrics this album that people are choosing to ignore!

it’s arguments like this that upset me so bad because it’s not even the lyrics that are the issue it’s the fact that it’s TAYLOR who put those lyrics out that people have an issue with. nobody gave a fuck about “it’s that me espresso” or “you can take me hot to go” because it’s not Taylor. Nope. Of course they’re bops because they aren’t Taylor. Taylor can’t do funny not serious lyrics without being torn apart.

well lol speaking of TTPD i felt the lyrics were trying too hard. and some of it was not great either like the charlie puth, tattooed golden retriever. its gonna date itself quickly i think. personally i think the start of the downfall was around midnights. everything changed with her when she released the clock vinyl. she can still make a pop album but do it like rep or 1989. something distinguished but also timeless even. new romantics was a banger. we did not get that in this album.

“we listen to her bc i love her music and relate to it” aka the lyricism.

exactly my point. “TTPD is trying to hard” and this album isn’t trying hard enough. There will never be middle ground for you type of people. I understand why Taylor stopped trying to appeal to the masses and does her own thing because you guys are never happy. The Charlie Puth comment was not meant to be serious. It’s funny. It’s a joke. Jokes can exist in songs.

“Start of downfall was midnights” and yet she is breaking records she hasn’t even hit yet.

yes but those are catchy. taylor’s songs on this album aren’t catchy unfortunately. the production is quite terrible when u break it down.

who tf decides if they’re catchy? Do you have a degree in music?

“breaking records” bc 1. we are a cult so we do whatever she tells us lol 2. she forces us to buy these vinyls by making them limited edition, have a vinyl only song on there or some gimmick (the clock) which up the sales immensely 3. makes us spend 15 dollars on a ticket to watch her music video.

anyone can find a song catchy sure. i don’t find any of these songs catchy unfortunately. espresso was catchy tho. i wasn’t huge on it but i enjoyed it from time to time. there’s no jingle in these songs besides maybe 1 or 2

well i only bought 1 vinyl bc ik i wasn’t gonna be that person again and buy 5 midnight vinyls lol. it was so dumb. obviously no one is forcing us but with the way it sells out and everyone wants one it feels like u have to get something. and im not denying the fact shes popular. i love her. trust. but i do think her decline is starting. and many are seeing that now. the start of the downfall in quality started at midnights.

you can sell the vinyls, people are always buying. if you don’t buy, scalpers will and unfortunately that’s much worse there is no realm where Taylor is going anywhere. judging her downfall on this single album you don’t like is actually blasphemy

we spoke about it in person at the bar. she just thought the production was half assed and very simple. no real uniqueness about it. no defining sound per song. and the lyrics were written like ai. it was not the normal usual taylor swift we know and love.

okay but any ordinary person can tell me that, I want to hear what her music degree profession has to say about the album

it’s not just one album tho! ttpd was not good. the production was very slow and underwhelming. the buildups were too long. each song was 4+ minutes and when its slow for the first 3 and then it hits is not ideal for a song u want trending. notice how you never heard fortnight on the radio? it was not good unfortunately. it did not last on the charts for very long. i did sell the vinyls and made good money on them but still it was a stupid financial decision

well i mean i can’t really break it down for u on what they said. we were at the bar drinking and talking about it and it was in a big group. but she knows what she’s talking about. and any real music fan would know this album is not it.

Why can’t we be disappointed she didn’t meet the expectations she set for herself? This isn’t folklore level lyricism. Debut had better songs if you bothered to give it a listen.
