Am i the only one who likes "did you girlboss to close tot he sun"? Like it feels so mocking and I love it. Like it's clearly her making fun of the word girlboss

Agreed, especially because later she says “did you make a joke only a man could?” so she’s obviously mocking them

I like it bc it’s a play in the Greek myth about a young boy who flew too close to the sun and his wings burned and I think he died. I can never remember how to spell it but I think it’s Icarus

I don’t think that’s what she’s doing but up for interpretation I guess

A girl on tiktok did not make this line up. It’s been around since before then.

The term “flew too close to the sun” has been out forever but the “girl boss part” which Taylor said, came from a comedian in TikTok in like 2021

It’s not from 2021. My friends and I have been saying it since high school and we graduated well before 2021.

Downvoted but it’s literally her saying “you overachieved so much and now you’re suffering” which is what the phrase essentially means. She’s not mocking the phrase, she’s using it the way it’s intended.

the tone is mocking-- the way she says it i mean. i get what the line means, but it's the way she says it. She's expressing the contempt, the derision that the media expresses towards these "cancelled" people. (also i didn't downvote you)

bro i wasn't gonna weigh in on this conversation cause im not on tiktok, but you can't just say "you literally haven't" to someone telling you what they've been saying since high school. Also like two people can come up with the same line without interacting, it happens all the time. Or taylor could be referencing a tiktok, that's also fine, people reference media all the time

The tone I can understand, thank you for explaining

This is so messy for no reason. It is still based on a Greek myth even if the phrase is from TikTok but like I remember saying girl-boss too close to the sun in 2021 before I met my bf and I’ve never seen the TikTok so media just spreads and becomes popularized. It’s like people saying 6 7 without knowing the song

My thing is that they said it didn’t start with the TikTok. Someone can’t just say they came up with 67..they heard it somewhere. Obviously Taylor got it from the TikTok
