okay i’m genuinely curious, because i thought so, but do people not think TTPD’s lyricism is on par with like folklore and evermore? I got into a debate about this with my friend and she said no, but i can see it being yes?

I think it is but I also think people feel it’s to raw and choppy. Which to me is the point, the way I’ve always see TTPD is like reading a diary (which is why I love it)

Some songs are amazing (the prophecy, loml, the black dog) and some are pretty bad (title track, thank you aimee, icdiwabh, shs, the alchemy etc) so it’s hard to pick out the good ones from an album with 31 songs. The bad ones drown out the good ones and it’s all very bland and gray

I usually see folklore and evermore viewed a lot more favourably lyrically than TTPD. I think TTPD has some lyrically super strong songs but also some weaker ones, whereas folklore/evermore are more consistent. I’m a TTPD girlie though, I think it has more knockout songs (the original, not even anthology) than the others despite fl/em having some of my all time favourite Taylor songs. but yeah generally from what I’ve seen TTPD is regarded as the weakest lyrically.

Once I told someone listen to it like you’re reading a diary they were able to see why the lyricism is actually good and they somewhat liked it after
