I had a conversation w/ a white swiftie friend. I’m very open about my opinion that Taylor Swift is a white feminist: doesn’t advocate for black female issues. However, I do not believe that TLOASG had any racism: Cause Taylor’s not racist - A black woman

Yeah, Taylor’s not a racist. However, I see what you’re saying. Maybe she’s just advocating for women in general? I’ve never gotten the vibe that she focuses and advocates on just white women. I do have a question though, in what way would you want her to advocate for black female issues? - A Hispanic woman (on paper I identify as white so ig)

why is everything about race all the time? What she has to come out with a big poster that reads “I fight SPECIFICALLY for black women” ? She’s obviously left leaning and fights injustice both in and outside of the industry. Nothing is ever enough is it?

I hear you. I’m sorry people are attacking you for expressing your feelings on this matter, especially those who aren’t affected by white feminism - a white woman

I often feel like white people forget intersectionality is a thing

I would like to see her advocate for more than only the things that affect her.

Okay, like what? I can tell you a few things that she does for others that very much doesn’t affect her in any form.

So gay rights apply to her? I don’t think so. But she’s many statements about that. I don’t understand this obsession with making POP STARS activists. Her job isn’t on capital hill. It’s in the studio.

The issue is that she’s not just a pop star, she’s a Billionaire. People with money and influence need to be fierce advocates because they actually have the money and influence to make change. It feels like she only speaks out when it will get her “brownie points” and that’s not nearly enough. She’s a Billionaire, she needs to be fiercely advocating or she needs put on the same critical eye as the other billionaires who sit and do nothing.

That’s the thing, you can only tell me a few. When it comes to a billionaire who is as well spoken as Taylor Swift, we need to make it an expectation that she will consistently and constantly use her voice to get her platform to spread love.

So yes, what she is doing is not enough. She has the funds and the people to do more than she does.

rich people don’t owe the world anything. It would be nice if she did so and I’m sure she does behind closed doors. We all know she donates to charities and probably does more anonymously. It doesn’t matter what she does, the woke mob will never be satisfied. She did not sign up to be a politician. Stop expecting and forcing that from artists. Instead maybe put that same pressure on your representatives. You know the people who actually do the job?

What should she do? Make a whole woke focused album? She ALREADY speaks out on so many issues, when guess what, she doesn’t have to. None of this stuff matters for her in the long run. She’s set for life you should be happy she takes a stand at all. Stop forcing “expectations” on people. After the Charlie Kirk shooting she started using bullet proof walls gm attend football games. She has already risked a lot speaking out. She doesn’t owe your her time, money, or life. Call up your reps

She does use her voice to spread love. She was raised like that. Many celebrities were and do advocate for individuals who are in need of it. However, Taylor and other celebrities and billionaires do not owe us or anyone anything when it comes to advocating human rights.

Taylor is not a politician. She’s an artist. It would be great if she did more than just all the countless donations to food centers, hospitals, go fund me pages, disaster relief, LGBTQIA advocacy, and education programs donations. I’d suggest if you want change, call your representatives.

She’s rich BECAUSE of her following and her fans. Stars don’t become stars without a fan base. That fan base has every right to expect certain things from the stars we support because we funnel our time and money into them.

You give her money for a CD. You don’t give her money to be an activist. The way you put it it’s like our taxes go to Taylor lol. It’s her life and her safety. She’s not your employee. The only think you “expect” from her is possibly putting on a good performance or making a good album because you PAID for those things. You do not own the right to anyone’s opinions or public appearances. Her voice and all of our voices are OUR OWN.
