I don’t love the point she made in her NYT interview. Sombr isn’t a bad songwriter by any means, but her saying that men doing confessional songwriting “is really good for the cause of women being able to say stuff” doesn’t make sense to me. That’s not how double standards between men and women work historically. I don’t mean to woke scold, nobody’s a perfect feminist and at least she’s trying, but I would’ve loved to see her use that interview/her SHoF induction to platform a female artist.
