I do love the line about lilacs, i think those are so underrated as a romantic flower šŸ’œ

heres some perspective for you guys, the slang thats being used, its to try to get in touch with the younger ones who usually look up to the older sibling. we are the role models, but there is so much more behind that than what we show the younger ones

hearing ā€˜punk, trolling, memes, bad bitch, savage, and we looked fire’ in a track five is insane to me. i would had been in love w the whole song if the other verses were as dreamy + strong as the bridge

What’s helped me is that those kind of words (like bad bitch) are words people describe her as rather than words she would describe herself as

well that’s not why i dislike it! her using words like that really doesn’t bother me lmao

i’d agree with that/it’d make sense. i just feel like the words are out of place on what’s technically supposed to be the most vulnerable track.

well, no. it’s the track thats most personal to her. that doesn’t necessarily mean vulnerable.

that's for sure what she was going for, it just comes off weird sometimes. my sister (eldest daughter, eldest cousin + grandbaby on our mama's side) and i (youngest child, youngest cousin + grandbaby on our dad's side) use those words all the time in regular conversation. i think it's just a lot of AAVE, and coming from taylor it feels almost like a punchline. i love her and don't think there was ill intent, it just feels so off to me and many of my Black swiftie friends

she’s said it’s always the most vulnerable, emotional, and honest track. every song she releases is personal, but track 5s are arguably the *most* personal because of their depth. both can be true. you can’t listen to a track 5 and claim it isn’t all four of those things.
