i think taylor swift gets more hate than ariana grande even tho they’re both kind of the same (a lot of bfs, major pop stars, been in the industry a long time) because it’s undeniable that ariana grande is talented.

yes u can hate on ariana but u can’t EVER say she’s not talented. taylor swift on the other hand… not that she’s not talented but she’s just not extraordinary in any one thing. she can sing okay just not great, she can’t dance that well, she puts on a good performance but it’s more based on theme and props rather than her individually.

I don’t think Taylor’s strengths lie in the performer aspect of a pop star- her vocals are ok, her dancing is really simple, and her guitar playing is pretty basic. But Taylor really excels in songwriting and storytelling, something that the general public isn’t gonna see when they watch 30 second clips of her online.

I agree, i think having respectful conversations like this where you don’t agree with someone is a very healthy skill and it’s lost nowadays bc you can’t say something as simple as “I like waffles” without people sending death threats bc they think you hate pancakes

i think songwriting is the best thing that’s she’s good at but even when you compare her to other artists i think she still pales. for example the entire rap industry is built off of wordplay and lyrics and i don’t think she’s as good as them. for me i think she’s popular because of her relatability for a lot of ppl. she might not be particularly good at any one thing (maybe u could give her songwriting) but she’s very relatable for a lot of ppl

I think comparing the two of them isn’t exactly fair considering they’re two different types of vocalists. Taylor has really insane vocals, just not as showy as Ariana. Taylor is more than a “not great” singer. She’s actually an INSANE vocalist. The whole thing about her not being able to sing was started forever ago not because it was easily proven true, but because Taylor’s consistently going against what the general public wants (ie what MEN want) and is constantly figuring out ways to break

Break through industry rules and boundaries. She’s not the best vocalist in the world but she’s definitely better than just okay. I’ve been singing for over a decade and have learned that not everything needs to be in a falsetto to be impressive

i think taylor is a good singer compared to the average person i would hope so her entire career is built off of her singing but when you compare her to other artists that are around her level she doesn’t have nearly the amount of talent as them think beyonce, lady gaga, and like i mentioned ariana grande. i don’t think she’s not good i just think that she’s not as good compared to other people in her league. nothing impressive has to be in a falsetto, however even when we look at other

I agree that relatability is her main strength. At first, she wrote a lot of songs about love and heartbreak from a teen girls perspective and that wasn’t something that we had a lot of (at least in country music). As she got older she still continues to write about those themes (as well as new ones) bc they’re so relatable.

This is gonna be very controversial but i do think one of the reasons she has such a loyal fan base is bc of the Kanye VMA situation. If he never stole the mic from a rising star and made her feel bad in that moment, I don’t think her fans would be as protective of her. I’m not saying he made her famous or anything, but I do think she’d wouldn’t be as big as she is now if it weren’t for that moment

Also yea, I don’t think she’s the best songwriter of all time but she’s pretty good. Her pen as a teenager was amazing, but now that she’s in her mid 30s her pen is still the same and it’s just not as impressive now. I do think rappers are the better songwriters as whole, since that’s their whole genre
